Brian Hill is out as coach of the Orlando Magic after two consecutive losing seasons and a first-round sweep in this year’s playoffs.

It was unclear whether Hill, 59, was fired or resigned, with the team releasing a statement Wednesday night stating he would not return as coach. The team said Hill would have the option to return to the organization in another capacity.

Team President Bob Vander Weide said earlier this month he was evaluating Hill’s status after the quick playoff exit. Hill, in his second stint with the team after being fired in 1999, was 76-88 the last two seasons.
