She’s quickly spun herself a nice web of exclusive gigs

For someone who just started DJing, Daisy O’Dell has done well for herself. O’Dell, who goes under the name “Daisy O,” holds down a Friday residency at the exclusive Hollywood bar Teddy’s and a regular slot on Sunday nights at Bar Marmont.

One of the first gigs the Toronto/New York City ex-pat nailed when she first moved to L.A. a scant three years ago was a touring slot on Gwen Stefani’s 43-city North American “Harajuku Lovers” tour.

“My job was to spin after parties and meet-and-greets,” she says. “Not that I was complaining. . . . Gwen is amazing. and it was glamorous and exciting.”

Although the former model is not known for her skills like more established names in the local scene (see Samantha Ronson), O’Dell does share Ronson’s knack for networking -- and her taste in music.

And she is already proving to be a bit of a tastemaker in town; she was one of the first DJs to start playing the now-ubiquitous Scottish sensation Calvin Harris. But the former Lot 61 door girl isn’t afraid to reach back deep into her collection to make people dance.

“I’m a big disco fan,” she says. “Anything by Giorgio Moroder makes me happy.”
