Crawford is happy with goalies’ play

One good thing about the Kings’ weeklong layoff is that Coach Marc Crawford and his staff have time to make a full assessment of the team before starting a key portion of the schedule that includes nine consecutive games against division rivals.

Near the top of the list is goaltending, which after a shaky start has solidified behind Jason LaBarbera and J.S. Aubin.

“I have to say that they have performed better of late,” Crawford said of his goaltenders, who have stepped up since the team gave up on making Jonathan Bernier the No. 1 goalie this season.

“We know that we have to have goaltenders that are going to make saves,” Crawford added. “We are not a team that is going to go out there and play a lot of 1-0 games. We do give up chances.”

The Kings recalled forward Matt Moulson from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Kings went through an “Amazing Race-type” of team building -- for which producer Jerry Bruckheimer served as a consultant -- that will be broadcast later in the season on FSN.
