From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The City Council’s planning committee delayed action Tuesday on a controversial proposed ordinance that would restrict the size of homes on about 300,000 lots in the city.

The “mansionization” law is intended to prevent residents from demolishing older homes and replacing them with houses much larger than others in a neighborhood.

City planning staff said they would return to the committee on Dec. 4 with more information, including how the ordinance might financially affect residents who want to build larger homes.
