Heatley, Senators agree on extension

Dany Heatley agreed to terms on a six-year, $45-million contract extension with the Ottawa Senators about 2 1/2 hours before the team’s season opener Wednesday against Toronto.
Heatley is in the final year of a deal that will pay him $5.5 million this season. The new deal, which is front-loaded, will pay an average of $7.5 million, tops on the Senators.
Philadelphia signed forward Jesse Boulerice and center Jim Dowd to one-year contracts.
