A new Genesis after 15 years

Share

When singer Peter Gabriel left Genesis in 1975, the British progressive-rock force could have easily packed up its Mellotrons and faded away, but instead it simply went from esoteric to less-oteric. With drummer Phil Collins stepping out to sing, the band evolved from theatrical-rock experimenter to pop-chart conquerer, supplying such staples of the ‘70s and ‘80s soundtrack as “Turn It on Again,” “Throwing It All Away,” “Invisible Touch,” et al. Now the trio is on the road for the first time in 15 years, reliving those days with the help of what’s said to be the largest video screen ever employed for a rock concert.

Genesis, Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave., L.A. 8 p.m. Friday. $57 to $352. (323) 850-2000.

* Also 8 p.m. Saturday.
