Summitt will receive Wooden Award
Pat Summitt will receive the John R. Wooden “Legends of Coaching” award next year, becoming the first women’s basketball coach to be honored in the 10-year history of the Los Angeles Athletic Club award.
The Tennessee coach has won seven national championships, and her 947 victories are more than any college basketball coach in history.
Summitt will be in Los Angeles to receive the award April 12, when the Wooden Awards honoring the men’s and women’s national players of the year are presented in a televised ceremony at the L.A. Athletic Club.
