Showing weakness
Re “Russian officials rebuff new U.S. missile shield proposal,” Oct. 13
If Russian President Vladimir V. Putin forced Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates to cool their heels for 40 minutes, why didn’t they walk? Putin insults the U.S., and Rice and Gates say not a word. A so-called world power that cowers when treated offensively is not deserving of its position and signifies weakness.
