Woman injured in leap from burning apartment

A woman jumped from the balcony of her burning fourth-floor apartment Wednesday afternoon, suffering multiple injuries after hitting the concrete four stories below.

Officials said the woman was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and that none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening. Inspector Frank Garrido of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said she suffered possible fractures to her right leg and pelvis, along with cuts to her forehead and face.

The woman, who was not identified, was described as being in her late 40s or early 50s.
