BEHIND an extravagantly embellished turquoise door of their own creation, veteran house-flippers Ernie Zayat and Greg Coccaro opened for business as Ernest Gregory Designs. “We did the flea markets, filled up our garages, and that grew into a warehouse and, now, a store,” Coccaro says. Make that an emporium of stylish and eccentric vintage pieces including French Deco buffets, 1970s cocktail tables, Murano lighting, a $5,200 crystal-and-brass antelope bust (above) and a $75 ceramic pig with tiny holes to hold toothpick-speared hors d’oeuvres (pictured on Page 1 and on the chair, above). Zayat, shown seated, with Coccaro standing, says in their own designs, “we are obsessive-compulsive refinishers and upholsterers and like to mix Hollywood glamour with a little rock ‘n’ roll.” The result: a swank, open, floating-back sofa and the I Love Lupe armchair (shown above, $800, plus the customer’s own fabric). 7205 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles; (323) 935-7773; www.ernestgregorydesigns.com.
