Tsongas’ widow wins primary

Niki Tsongas, widow of Sen. Paul Tsongas, won the Democratic primary in the race to replace U.S. Rep. Martin Meehan, who resigned his seat to become chancellor of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
Tsongas will face Republican Jim Ogonowski, a retired Air Force colonel, in the Oct. 16 general election.
