Update -- The Galaxy tried to put a rosy glow on another bad loss, claiming that there had been positives in its 3-0 shutout by Chivas USA on Thursday night. “The performance of the team was good, I thought,” Coach Frank Yallop said. “I thought it was a very even game, to be honest. I think the score flatters them, but a 3-0 loss is a 3-0 loss.” Los Angeles managed only one shot on goal, compared to 10 for Chivas, and its next defeat will guarantee the club its second consecutive losing season and its third in the last five years. All that is left for the Galaxy in 2007 is to decide whether Alexi Lalas, the team’s president and general manager, will be around in 2008; whether Yallop will be back, and which players, if any, to protect in November’s expansion draft to help stock the San Jose Earthquakes.
