Council rejects bid to block Grand Ave. project

The City Council on Wednesday denied an effort by the Westin Bonaventure Hotel to stop the Grand Avenue project planned for downtown.
The Westin had appealed the project, alleging that it violated a downtown housing plan because it had too many units.
The council’s action upheld its planning committee’s earlier denial of the appeal.
