at Washington 5, Philadelphia 4: Antonio Alfonseca and Geoff Geary came out of the bullpen and gave up the lead, and the Phillies’ failure to finish a sweep of the Nationals prevented them from overtaking San Diego in the wild-card standings.

at Chicago 8, Pittsburgh 0: Carlos Zambrano got his career-best 17th win by pitching six sharp innings before leaving with cramps, and the Cubs won for the 10th time in 12 games to expand their Central Division lead to 3 1/2 games.

at Atlanta 7, Milwaukee 4: Brewers Manager Ned Yost was ejected during the Braves’ four-run rally in the seventh inning. The Brewers, who had a 4-1 lead entering the inning, lost for the fourth time in five games.

New York 7, at Florida 6 (11 innings): David Wright singled home the decisive run in the 11th to send the Mets 2 1/2 games ahead of Philadelphia in the East. Florida rallied from a 6-3 eighth-inning deficit against Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner.

at San Francisco 5, Cincinnati 4: Pedro Feliz hit a tying home run during a five-run sixth inning, rallying the Giants past Aaron Harang (16-5). Daniel Ortmeier doubled and singled to help the Giants win consecutive games for the first time since Sept. 5-7.

at St. Louis 4, Houston 3: Rick Ankiel’s two-run triple off Brad Lidge capped a three-run rally in the ninth inning.

Colorado 7, at San Diego 3: It was the Rockies’ 36th road win, tying the franchise mark set in 1997.

Dodgers 7, at Arizona 1: The Diamondbacks’ Edgar Gonzalez (8-3) lost for the first time in his last eight decisions.
