Just don’t try to hook up the hose

At the Altered Space Gallery in Venice, inspiration flows in eye-arresting cascades of color thanks to artist Michael Allison, who pairs old garden spigots and Atlanta Waterworks plumbing fixtures with handblown glass. “What I like about the work is the combination of heavy vintage faucets and that lyricism of blown glass,” gallery owner Sand Brim says. “It’s so fluid.” Prices run from $270 for individual faucets to $10,500 for a multi-head chandelier, whose white gushing “water” is illuminated by hidden halogen light flowing through the glass. 1221 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Los Angeles; (310) 452-8121; www.alteredspacegallery.com.
