Atlanta 10, at Washington 2: Jeff Francoeur had two home runs and a career-high seven RBIs to help hand the Nationals their ninth consecutive loss. The skid is their longest since moving to Washington in 2005 from Montreal. The last time the franchise lost nine in a row was the final nine games of the 2000 season.

Milwaukee 5, at New York 3: Johan Santana offered a succinct evaluation of his Shea Stadium debut for the Mets, a marquee matchup against Brewers ace Ben Sheets. “He pitched good and I didn’t. He was better than me.” That seemed fair after Sheets retired 18 consecutive batters and, backed by home runs from Bill Hall, Rickie Weeks and Gabe Kapler, beat Santana.

St. Louis 8, at San Francisco 7 (10 innings): Chris Duncan lined a go-ahead single to left with the bases loaded in the 10th. It spoiled a gem by Giants starter Matt Cain, who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. Albert Pujols ended it with a leadoff double.

at Pittsburgh 4, Cincinnati 3: The Pirates won consecutive games for the first time this season. Ian Snell (2-0), the only Pirates starting pitcher to win in their 11 games this season, pitched 6 1/3 innings for the victory despite yielding nine hits.

at Houston 5, Florida 0: Brandon Backe pitched five strong innings and Lance Berkman hit a two-run homer. Backe gave up five hits and walked five. The Marlins put runners in scoring position in every inning Backe pitched and came away with nothing, stranding nine.

at Philadelphia 7, Chicago 1: Cole Hamels yielded one hit over seven innings -- Derrek Lee’s double with one out in the fourth -- and Pedro Feliz and Ryan Howard hit two-run homers.

at Arizona 10, Colorado 3: The Diamondbacks are 5-0 against the Rockies and have outscored them, 38-10.

at Dodgers 11, San Diego 1: Derek Lowe retired 20 of his last 21 batters and also drove in three runs to improve to 4-0 against the Padres at Dodger Stadium.
