at New York 15, Boston 9: The 24 runs were the most in a Red Sox-Yankees game at Yankee Stadium since New York’s 19-8 win on Aug. 13, 1940, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Chicago 3, at Baltimore 1: Jim Thome broke a prolonged power drought with a three-run homer and a double. He entered the game with a .156 batting average and had not hit a home run in his last 43 at-bats.
Texas 7, at Toronto 5 (14 innings): Frank Catalanotto scored the go-ahead run on A.J. Burnett’s wild pitch with two out in the 14th inning and the Rangers ended a five-game losing streak.
at Minnesota 6, Tampa Bay 5: The Twins’ Mike Lamb hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the eighth inning that left fielder Carl Crawford caught in foul territory.
Seattle 4, at Oakland 2: Felix Hernandez (2-0) retired 16 of 18 during one stretch and lowered his earned-run average from 1.66 to 1.52.
Kansas City 3, at Angels 2: The Angels have lost six in a row to the Royals.
