Man guilty of assaulting infant son
A Lake Forest man was convicted Tuesday of physically and sexually assaulting his 4-week-old son.
Superior Court Judge Marc M. Kelly found Andrew David Fusco, 23, guilty of four felony counts of child abuse, two felony counts of sexual penetration by foreign object and two felony counts of aggravated assault, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.
Fusco faces a maximum sentence of 30 years to life imprisonment.
The infant suffered numerous broken bones, bruises and other injuries, including more than 30 bite marks.
Fusco and the infant’s mother, Megan Michelle Martinez, 22, took the infant to a hospital but told doctors that the family cat had scratched him. Doctors examined the baby and said he had suffered severe blunt force trauma.
The infant, born Dec. 4, 2004, is no longer in the couple’s custody. He was adopted by an Orange County family.
Martinez pleaded guilty to four felony counts of child abuse. She was sentenced in December to six years in state prison.
