City Council OKs billboard district
The City Council gave final approval Tuesday to a plan to create a billboard district next to the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
In a unanimous vote, the council allowed two billboards -- four sign faces, half of them digital -- to be erected on the north side of the freeway at San Pedro Street.
The vote came hours before the council’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee moved ahead with another proposed billboard district next to the 110 Freeway.
That proposal, which would be used to generate money for parks and other services, is expected to take at least a year to draft before coming back for a council vote.
