Shades of green

Re “The title of greenest city goes to ... ,” April 22

As someone who grew up in Los Angeles but now resides in Northern California, if you want to make folks in San Francisco laugh out loud, tell them Los Angeles is a green city. Tell that to the South Central community garden that got bulldozed two years ago. Tell that to every foothill that gets a set of ugly apartments. Tell that to every pedestrian who has to scream to be heard over the ceaseless roar of cars.

L.A. is green the way the Grove is authentic.
