“I DON’T believe in reincarnation, but if I did, I think I must have lived in the 1920s,” says Jim DeMeo, who recently opened the period furniture gallery Casa DeMeo in Silver Lake. Living in a 1931 hacienda nearby, he has a special affection for Mexican colonial and Spanish Revival, but he also deals in Art Nouveau, Deco and Arts and Crafts designs. “I’m celebrating the color, exuberance and romance of this city circa 1900 to 1940,” says DeMeo, shown here on a 1930s leather club-style love seat ($3,200) next to a Monterey-style table inlaid with Taylor tiles depicting parrots ($2,200). Fans of aged and rugged decor will find great buys, including well-worn Oriental rugs (from $700). 2876 Rowena Ave., Los Angeles; (323) 660-9922; www.casademeo.com.
