Oh, and that other big trade . . .

Casey Kotchman for Mark Teixeira? The hardest hitter to strike out in the majors for someone three years older who strikes out over 100 times every season?

A hitter who has come into his own and hits right-handers as well as left-handers and is already on pace for a personal high in home runs, for a player who has only eight more than Casey this year?

Tony, this one took guts, but could well come back to haunt you.

Wasn’t the monster contract given Torii Hunter supposed to provide Vladimir Guerrero protection in the lineup? And wasn’t Matthews Jr. to be a table setter to allow Vlad to drive him in? Funny about baseball, victories are achieved on the playing field, not through free agency, trades or glitz in the media. Let’s not just yet book a World Series winner appointment in the White House for the Halos.

Tony Reagins traded away a home-grown lifetime Angel for a high-priced four-month rental who will destroy the team chemistry. Just ask the Rangers.

I’m disappointed in the Angels panicking and picking up a Scott Boras rent-a-player. This year’s team could already beat this year’s Red Sox team. Are the Angels becoming the Yankees of the West? The Yankees seem to go this route every year and when is the last time they won anything?

Angels management should stick to their solid business plan and not be influenced by the sports talk show babble about the “big bat.”
