Off the mark

I was puzzled at the reaction of supposed Angels fans to the Mark Teixeira deal in the letters last week. All the talk of “chemistry” and trading “home-grown talent” is just a bunch of Plaschke-inspired hooey that one would expect more from Dodgers fans.

Have these fans not been watching the last four seasons when the lack of an additional big bat has kept the Angels from further postseason glory? Kotchman is a nice player, but he is no better than an average offensive first baseman and guys like him are easily replaceable. Players like Teixeira are hard to find and, simply put, worth the risk.
