A Corona del Mar couple has donated their $1-million yacht to the Orange Coast College School of Sailing and Seamanship, which will convert the vessel into a “classroom on the water,” college officials said.

The 68-foot motor yacht, named Por Nada, will be moored in Newport Beach for maritime training courses as part of the school’s new professional mariner program that launches Aug. 25.

The boat, donated by Gared and Frances Smith, includes a stand-up engine room, modern navigation and communication systems, and a salon for on-board lectures, said Brad Avery, director of the School of Sailing and Seamanship.

The school has also received donated yachts from executive Roy Disney and radio host Laura Schlessinger.
