Agent out on the hunt -- for a buyer
IS JACK BAUER leaving Los Angeles, or merely moving on from his warehouse loft in Silver Lake for greener, less urban pastures?
Actor Kiefer Sutherland, who plays the world-saving Special Agent Bauer on Fox’s “24,” has listed his 14,000-square-foot space for $4,895,000.
Located west of Vermont Avenue, the property has 6,000 square feet of living space and 8,000 square feet currently being used as a recording studio and offices.
The residence is unassuming from the street, but inside its rooms all open to one another, and it just screams, “What’s a New York loft like me doing in a place like this?” There are 25-foot ceilings and polished concrete floors warmed by radiant heat, and the studio and offices are just down a hallway. The building is a former ironworks/foundry warehouse.
This is one of those properties that agents euphemistically say is “for a special buyer.” The building was constructed in 1928 and is configured into three bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Sutherland, 41, has earned a best actor Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role in “24,” the real-time counter-terrorism drama.

OK, who guessed where he lives?
Boris Nizon, president and founder of Fame Pictures, a Santa Monica-based photo agency that chases celebrities and then sells their pictures to fan magazines and websites, has listed his Beverly Hills home for sale at $3,495,000. Sorry, Lindsay, Cameron and Justin: We don’t give out addresses, tempting as it may be.
The house, built in 2006, has five bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms in 4,300 square feet. There is a grand foyer with a floating staircase and crystal chandelier. The gourmet kitchen has Viking appliances, granite countertops and a breakfast area that leads out to a patio and a pool with a rock-formation waterfall and spa. There is a balcony off the master suite. Clearly, taking photos of celebrities when they don’t want you to pays well.
Nizon and his staff are featured prominently in the escalating battle between photo prey and predators. One of Nizon’s photographers was accused of intentionally hitting Lindsay Lohan’s car with his minivan. Lohan suffered cuts and bruises.
Nizon’s crew also was involved in the recent brouhaha over photos of Nick Lachey; a Fame photographer shot the celebrity as he romped naked on the balcony of his Mexican villa with girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.
In Malibu, at least two altercations have erupted on the beach this summer between residents and paparazzi trying to shoot actor Matthew McConaughey as he surfed. And two photographers were arrested last month for loitering around Britney Spears’ Studio City house.
Nizon’s house is listed by Shann Silver of Pence Hathorn Silver, Coldwell Banker, in Santa Monica.
Trust us, this one’s a real looker

The Hollywood Hills house she has listed for sale is mighty pretty too. It’s a striking 1930s Spanish with Hollywood flair. Listed at $2,999,000, it has three bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms in 3,100 square feet. The kitchen was recently remodeled and includes Carrara marble, Viking appliances and a Sub-Zero refrigerator and wine cooler. There is an antique French limestone fireplace in the living room and ebony Saltillo tile floors. Outside, a pergola can accommodate dining for 10 and a private rear yard with a pool.
Kentucky-born Sims, 35, has appeared on the covers of Mademoiselle, Glamour, Seventeen, Self, Cosmopolitan and Lucky. She has been featured in ad campaigns for Old Navy, Jimmy Choo, Chanel and Michael Kors. As an actress, she played Delinda Deline on the recently canceled NBC drama “Las Vegas.” She also appeared in the 2004 movie “Starsky & Hutch” and “The Benchwarmers” (2006).
Brett Karns of Keller Williams Realty, Beverly Hills, has the listing, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Can’t shake her Southern roots
Along with President Nixon, we won’t have Brett Butler to kick around anymore. The comedian, best-known for her title role in “Grace Under Fire,” sold her Hollywood Hills home and has moved to a 91-acre farm in Georgia. She will fly to Los Angeles “to take meetings,” her real estate agent said.
The three-bedroom, four-bathroom, 3,300-square-foot house fetched $2 million. It had originally been listed at $2,347,000, with an interim price drop to $2,067,000.
The house, which has a view of the Hollywood sign, is a gated property. There are also sweeping city views, a guesthouse and three fireplaces.
The 50-year-old Butler, born in Alabama, is returning to her native South. Her stint in Los Angeles was not without adversity. There were regular reports that she was difficult to get along with on the TV show, which aired from 1993 to ’98. Toward the end of the sitcom’s run, she entered rehab for painkiller addiction. Maybe that’s just what L.A. does to you.
Rick Yohon of Sotheby’s International Realty, Los Feliz, co-listed the property with Konstantine Valissarakos of the same office. The buyer was represented by Brian Scott Ades and Lauren Stewart, both of Sotheby’s International Realty, Sunset Boulevard office.
Banking on another score
Although Bruce Springsteen’s songs have dominated my distinguished career as a shower singer, I am partial to “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion)” for my alone-in-the-car-behind-the-privacy-glass moments.
David Foster, who wrote that masterpiece and a few zillion others, is selling two adjacent condo units in the California building on Wilshire Boulevard, built in 2006.
Both units are south-facing and have direct elevator access. They may be purchased separately or together.
The first unit, unfinished, is 3,270 square feet with an asking price of $2,495,000. It has three bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms.
The second unit is completed and listed at $3.15 million. It has the same square footage and number of bedrooms and bathrooms. There are hardwood floors, a white marble kitchen, marble bathrooms, recessed lighting and a customized walk-in closet in the master bedroom suite.
The units have terraces and views of Century City.
Foster, 58, has won more than a dozen Grammys. He has worked as a songwriter and/or producer with Josh Groban, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand and Madonna. He composed the score for the 1985 film “St. Elmo’s Fire” and more recently accompanied Katharine McPhee on the Beatles song “Something” on “American Idol.” Yes, I cringed a little.
