Competition -- Preliminary round, CONCACAF Champions League.

Update -- Tonight’s game, the first in a home-and-home series in the newly created CONCACAF Champions League, marks Chivas USA’s inaugural trip to Panama. Tauro FC, founded in 1984, has won seven Panamanian championships and has finished as runner-up six times. Chivas comes into the game in the midst of a five-game winless streak in MLS competition and has not scored a goal in its last two games.

Coach Preki said he hoped that would change in Central America. “Hopefully we’ll have a little bit more luck in this tournament because we’ve had no luck so far in the league,” he said. In addition to being shown live on Galavision, the match will also be televised on tape delay on the Fox Soccer Channel at 7 p.m. The return game against Tauro FC will be played at the Home Depot Center on Sept. 2.
