Infielders may skip trip

Injured infielders Erick Aybar and Howie Kendrick could be left home to rehab their sore left hamstrings when the Angels leave for a six-game trip Monday. That’s not significant for Kendrick, who isn’t eligible to come off the disabled list for another two weeks. But it could represent something of a setback for Aybar, who is officially listed as “day to day.”

“If a guy is close to getting into baseball activities, then it’s a no-brainer. You want to take him on the road with you and monitor that,” Angels Manager Mike Scioscia said Saturday. “[But] if a guy is far enough away . . . sometimes it’s better that they get more concentrated work back here.”

Good Wood

Brandon Wood, recalled Thursday for this sixth stint with the Angels, singled in the third inning for his first big league hit since a June 7 double against Oakland. He also had an RBI bunt single in the fifth.
