Spears’ dad gets a raise for her care

A Superior Court judge gave Britney Spears’ father a $6,000-a-month raise Monday for his court-ordered supervision of the performer and her estate earlier this year.

The salary increase applies to the care Jamie Spears provided his 27-year-old daughter from February, when she was placed in a conservatorship, to November. Commissioner Reva Goetz raised the amount paid to Jamie Spears, who left his job as a chef to oversee his daughter’s medical, personal and business concerns, by her estate to about $16,000 a month for that period.

That works out to about $75 per hour, the judge said.

Goetz also ordered the estate to reimburse Jamie Spears $37,500 in expenses and to pay Britney Spears’ brother, Bryan, $200,000 owed to him before the conservatorship.

A court gave Jamie Spears control of his daughter’s affairs in February, shortly after the pop star was hospitalized for psychological problems. Goetz made the arrangement permanent in October, citing a number of factors including evidence that Spears is “susceptible to undue influence.” Spears did not object to the arrangement and can petition the court at a later date to reassess the situation.
