Robert Fitzpatrick, director and chief executive officer of Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art since 1998, has left to become international managing director of Haunch of Venison, a 6-year-old gallery for contemporary art with spaces in London, Zurich and Berlin.

He previously was president of CalArts in Valencia and director of Los Angeles’ 1984 Olympic Arts Festival.

When he took the Chicago job, Fitzpatrick said he wouldn’t stay more than a decade.
