The sole sure way to affect profound change in 2008 is to elect the first female president in the 220-year history of the nation’s highest office. I’m sorry, but putting the 44th male in succession into the Oval Office would just amount to more of the same old, same old.

As someone of Hillary Clinton’s age and gender, I would surely find it fascinating to see her sworn in as our president next January. But hearing her say that attacking other candidates is “the fun part” of campaigning, and seeing her and her husband do so with such zeal, does not make me proud to be called a Democrat. It makes me want to weep for what Clinton might have been.
