Pepperdine (7-16, 1-6) at Gonzaga (17-5, 6-1), 5 -- The Waves have lost five of their last six games, although they have missed shots at the buzzer that would have tied each of the last two, losing both by three. It won’t get easier as this begins a stretch of five of their final seven games on the road. The Bulldogs have defeated the Waves 13 consecutive times, including a 92-57 victory at Pepperdine on Jan. 14.

Loyola Marymount (4-18, 2-5) at Portland (7-16, 1-6), 7 -- The Lions are coming off a victory Monday against San Francisco -- only their second win since Dec. 8. The other victory during that stretch was against Portland, 73-68, on Jan. 14. They had only 12 turnovers against San Francisco, well below their season average of 19. Portland has lost six of its last seven.

Cal State Northridge (15-6, 7-2) at UC Davis (8-14, 2-7), 7 -- You could say Northridge is two seconds out of first place. The Matadors had a two-point lead against Pacific on Thursday with Jonathan Heard at the free-throw line, but he missed the front end of a one-plus-one and Pacific scored on a buzzer-beating jump shot to force overtime, then pulled away in the extra period. Northridge and Pacific are tied for the conference lead. UC Davis is in a three-way tie -- for last.

Long Beach State (5-16, 2-7) at Pacific (17-6, 7-2), 7 -- Donovan Morris had a monster game Thursday to pace Long Beach over Davis. He had 26 points and nine rebounds, both game highs. Chad Troyer had 30 points in Pacific’s win over Northridge in a game featuring 11 ties and 17 lead changes.

UC Irvine (9-13, 4-5) at UC Santa Barbara (17-5, 6-3), 7 -- Santa Barbara’s Alex Harris might be the Big West’s top player. He had 24 points in a win Thursday over Fullerton. Irvine, playing without leading scorer Patrick Sanders, who has a hyper-extended right knee, lost by a point Thursday at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo when a 35% free-throw shooter who had missed his previous four attempts made one with 1.4 seconds left.

Cal State Fullerton (14-7, 7-3) at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (9-12, 4-5), 7 -- The Titans are playing without point guard Junior Russell, who has been suspended indefinitely for breaking team rules. Marcus Crenshaw had 23 points -- 21 in the second half -- in a loss to Santa Barbara. Cal Poly made nine of 16 three-point baskets in its victory over Irvine.
