Before the Rat Pack, the Brat Pack or the Hollywood bad girls running amok in leggings, Drew Barrymore’s grandpop and friends tore it up on yachts in the 1930s and ‘40s, now immortalized in the new book “Hollywood’s Hellfire Club: The Misadventures of John Barrymore, W.C. Fields, Errol Flynn and ‘The Bundy Drive Boys.’ ” So what makes them different from other party people of yore? “They all had this lunatic sense of brilliance,” says writer Gregory William Mank. “They were considered barbarians by most of Hollywood, but each one had a real impact on his art.” Mank -- with coauthors Charles Heard and Bill Nelson -- will regale with strange tales (ask about “Katy” Hepburn’s portrait that spooked her for life) and a screening of “Svengali” (pictured, starring Marian Marsh Henderson and Barrymore), as well as Fields’ dirty short “The Dentist.” 8 p.m. Tue., Silent Movie Theatre, L.A. $10. silentmovietheatre.com
