* Minnesota 6, at Detroit 5 (SO): Martin Gaborik scored on the final attempt in a shootout, lifting the Wild to victory. The NHL-leading Red Wings went ahead for the first time on Dan Cleary’s goal with 1:08 left in regulation. But less than 20 seconds later, Eric Belanger grabbed a fluttering puck and poked it past Chris Osgood to force overtime.
* Florida 3, at Atlanta 2 (SO): Olli Jokinen scored in the shootout to give the Panthers the victory.
* New Jersey 4, at Carolina 1: Patrik Elias scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and Martin Brodeur made 20 saves.
* Philadelphia 6, at N.Y. Rangers 2: Scott Hartnell scored three consecutive goals and Antero Niittymaki won his fourth start in a row.
* at Ottawa 3, Buffalo 2 (SO): Dean McAmmond scored on the Senators’ sixth shootout attempt in helping to hand the Sabres an eighth consecutive loss.
* Montreal 5, at Boston 2: Alex Kovalev and Tomas Plekanec each had a goal and an assist to help the Canadiens improve to 5-0-2 over their last seven games.
* Pittsburgh 4, at Tampa Bay 1: Ty Conklin made 35 saves, Jordan Staal had two goals and an assist and the Penguins won their eighth in a row.
* at St. Louis 4, Dallas 2: Brad Boyes scored twice, Paul Kariya had a goal and two assists and the Blues extended their points streak to six games.
* at Edmonton 5, Phoenix 2: Robert Nilsson and Kyle Brodziak each had a goal and an assist to lead the Oilers.
* at San Jose 3, Vancouver 1: Jeremy Roenick and Milan Michalek scored power-play goals.
* at Kings 5, Toronto 2: Dustin Brown scored two power-play goals and Jason LaBarbera made 24 of his career-high 48 saves in the third period.
