THE CHRONICLES OF STEVE
It’s hard to imagine a Steve Aoki-less Hollywood. The Dim Mak record label honcho, nightclub promoter and globe-trotting DJ has built an empire of cool based on nothing but his musical taste. Now, Aoki is releasing a mix CD (“Pillowface & His Airplane Chronicles”) to the American Apparel-clad masses. The disc features Aoki’s trademarked fusing of danceable indie rock such as Bloc Party with electro bangers such as Justice. “I’m excited to hear what people think when they hear Spank Rock over Does It Offend You, Yeah?,” he says. If neither of those bands rings bells for you, don’t worry. Just know that “Pillowface” is a whirlwind tour of the current sound of young Hollywood -- and Aoki will celebrate it with a release party featuring guests DJ A-Trak and DJ AM. 10 p.m., Wed., the Roxy. Free with RSVP to partyline@dimmak.com.
