Formerly Mor bar, Main (pictured) has been raising eyebrows -- and some fashion consciousness (a dress code is enforced on weekends) -- on Main Street in Santa Monica over the last month. Gone is Mor bar’s faux Moroccan vibe; Main’s design scheme features sleek leather seating options, metal bars and a new DJ booth. The 2,000-square-foot lounge has been serving since mid-December; the grand opening is set for Friday. . . . North Hollywood’s Bank Heist survived a major fire Jan. 7 that nearly put the club out of business. Co-owner Kat Johnson says the upstairs VIP area suffered most of the damage; “about a third” of the restaurant and bar was affected by the blaze, which was caused by faulty wiring. No word on how soon the venue will reopen. . . . Art and Allan Davis have confirmed that they have taken over Cha Cha Cha on Santa Monica Boulevard. The former Chi owners now virtually control the corner of Santa Monica and Edinburgh Avenue. A new restaurant debuts this spring in the Cha Cha Cha space, with a neighboring nightclub at 7969 Santa Monica Blvd. opening about the same time. . . . Finally, Hollywood’s 86 opens this weekend, after about a month of private events in the speak-easy-inspired space. Owner Steve Adelman is making last-minute tweaks to the bar, including the addition of a new creative director. L.A. nightlife legend Jon Sidel, former partner of Sean MacPherson and co-owner of storied 1990s Fairfax district bar Olive, has signed on to help hip up the bar. “I’m interested in creating an environment using music and ambience,” says Sidel, who spent most of the last decade working in the music industry as an A&R; man for labels like V2. Sidel says he is “creating a troupe of musicians and having them create something that molds with the place.” With connections like Sidel’s, look for 86 to offer interesting entertainment. “I haven’t been doing any restaurant or bar stuff for years,” he says, “but 86 will be a place to hear live music, have dinner, drinks and expect the unexpected.”
