Golden Globes spread the pain

Share

PERSONALLY, I’m glad the Golden Globes were a washout [“Don’t Let This Happen Again,” by Mary McNamara, Jan. 14]. I’m glad because, as a union crew member of a hit network TV show who has been out of work since Thanksgiving, I’m finally seeing the members of the Screen Actors Guild taking this strike seriously and acting like a real union in solidarity with the Writers Guild.

While I share Mary McNamara’s sadness for the unhappy circumstances of Golden Globe winners this year, I feel a hell of lot worse for the many thousands of workers in the L.A. area who are paying a serious financial toll because of this poorly managed labor strike. At least the breakdown of the Golden Globes show spreads the pain a little more evenly around. And maybe it will help to end the strike so we can all go back to work sooner rather than later.
