New Orleans fest returns big time
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will return to a full seven-day schedule for the first time since 2005 when it mounts its 39th staging in late April. Organizers say it will have an estimated economic effect on Louisiana of about $300 million.
Festival organizers will announce a lineup today whose more than 500 acts will include first-time participants Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Tim McGraw, Sheryl Crow and Keyshia Cole, as well as one of the first U.S. performances by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.
The festival, which was cut to six days in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, will take place April 25 to 27 and May 1 to 4.
