Appointee to air board is rejected

The state Senate on Thursday rejected Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s latest appointment to the state Air Resources Board.
Lawmakers accused the appointee, Judith Case, of repeatedly siding with polluters, including agricultural businesses and bus companies, while serving on a San Joaquin Valley air board.
Case, a 55-year-old registered nurse, has served on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors since 1999 and is a former mayor of Sanger.
The Democratically-controlled Senate voted 15 to 20, largely along party lines, not to confirm Case, a Republican.
