It’s not everyone who can claim American hero Ben Franklin as a relative, but Jack Coleman (a sixth-generation grandson) gets more buzz these days about his TV family. He plays Noah Bennet, father to super-cheerleader Claire (Hayden Panettiere) on NBC’s “Heroes,” which returns for Season 3 in September. Jack’s also got a real family, wife Beth Toussaint and daughter Tess, in Studio City.

ON THE FLY A good Friday night would be getting together with friends at Firefly. Even though I’m not hip myself, this place is, without being tragically hip. Very pretty, with an indoor-outdoor, slightly Turkish feel. I like the steamed mussels and the salt and pepper prawns.

SOLITARY REFINEMENT On Saturday I love to slip out while my family is still asleep and have boiled eggs and sausage at Il Tramezzino while reading the newspaper. Then maybe a jog up Fryman Canyon. It’s really more of a walk with some bursts of jogging.

GETTIN’ THEIR KICKS Back with the family, we’ll go to Home Depot Center and watch soccer. It’s a great venue, not a bad seat. Between that and watching my daughter play with her team, we watch a lot of soccer, and I really love it, especially now with the World Cup qualifying.

SLICE OF LIFE In the late afternoon we’ll go to Pizzeria Mozza and have the white truffle pizza. A friend from the East Coast says it’s the best pizza he’s had. It’s quite the happening place, hard to get a table.

GOING GREEK We don’t cut up the town much, but I love the Greek Theatre, which to me is slightly better than the Hollywood Bowl, because it’s more intimate. I’ve seen James Taylor there, and I still remember seeing Tracy Chapman on her first tour.

READING & RIDING On Sunday morning, it’s more time with the newspapers, and then it’s off to the Farmers Market in Studio City, where the pony rides and face painting are favorites with my daughter. Then we’ll come home and hang around the pool and maybe have friends over for a barbecue.
