Two killed by driver fleeing LAPD
A driver being pursued by Los Angeles police struck and killed two pedestrians Sunday night in Hollywood, authorities said.
LAPD Officer Karen Smith said the driver was being pursued for reckless driving when he struck the pedestrians at 8:47 p.m. in the 6400 block of Hollywood Boulevard, near Wilcox Avenue.
The man and woman, who are believed to be 35 to 40 years old, were pronounced dead at the scene, Fire Department spokeswoman d’Lisa Davies said.
Davies said she did not know whether the two people were walking in a crosswalk. The driver was detained near the scene and taken to a hospital, Smith said.
