* Philadelphia 4, at Florida 2: Ryan Howard hit his 29th home run, most in the majors, to help the Phillies move into first place in the East Division.
* at Cincinnati 5, New York 2: The Reds, who scored four times in the fifth inning off John Maine despite getting only two balls out of the infield, ended the Mets’ 10-game winning streak.
* at Atlanta 7, Washington 6: Brian McCann’s three-run double gave the Braves the lead in the third inning. The Nationals left the tying run on third base in the ninth.
* at Houston 2, Chicago 1: Hunter Pence drove in the game-winning run with a double in the bottom of the ninth inning. He lined the first pitch he saw from Bob Howry to the gap in left-center.
* at Colorado 5, Pittsburgh 2: Seth Smith hit an inside-the-park home run for the Rockies. He led off the seventh with a drive to center that caromed off the bottom of the wall and past center fielder Nate McClouth, who overran the ball. Smith scored standing up.
* at St. Louis 11, San Diego 7: Yadier Molina’s two-run single with the bases loaded broke an eighth-inning tie.
* Milwaukee 9, at San Francisco 1: Prince Fielder and Mike Cameron each hit three-run homers.
* Dodgers 8, at Arizona 7 (11 innings): James Loney led off the 11th with a tiebreaking home run.
