The tween queen rules; go out and get ‘Spaced’

There’s no avoiding the talk about: Miley Cyrus’ new album, “Breakout.” Because as good as “See You Again” was -- and it was good -- her angry new tune “7 Things” is better. And ever since that Vanity Fair debacle and those bra-baring photos surfaced, we’ve decided she’s pretty darn cool. You might as well give in. (Tuesday)

“Shaun of the Dead” fans, please talk about: “Spaced: The Complete Series” DVD. The British comedy from Simon Pegg, who co-wrote (with director Edgar Wright) and starred in “Shaun” and “Hot Fuzz,” is like a smarter version of “Friends” laced with geeky, semi-obscure pop-culture references. Which is to say, it’s better enjoyed on DVD than in a new U.S. reimagining. We’re looking at you, NBC. We’re not over “Coupling” yet. (Tuesday)

If you can’t stand “The Hills,” you should talk up: “American Teen.” The Sundance documentary, directed by “The Kid Stays in the Picture” auteur Nanette Burstein, follows the lives of four diverse high school seniors in a conservative Indiana town. The best part: We suspect not one of them knows what a Brody Jenner is. (Friday)

Clone Wars, Shmone Wars. Let’s instead talk about: “Robot Chicken: Star Wars” The 22-minute Adult Swim compilation special is out on DVD and worth the $10 price tag for the Luke Skywalker versus Emperor Palpatine “Yo Momma” battle alone. Palpatine: “Your mother is so fat that Ben Kenobi said, ‘That’s no moon, that’s yo momma!’ ” (Tuesday)

Even if we’ve already seen it dozens of times, we can never stop talking about: “Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown!” Santa Monica’s Aero Theater is screening the 1977 movie, in which the “Peanuts” gang competes against a trio of bullies in a race down Rogue River. (Today)

As we count down to Comic-Con, attendees could start talking about: “The Dangerous Days of Daniel X.” The book, bestselling author James Patterson’s first foray into science fiction, tells the dark story of an alien hunter seeking to avenge the murder of his parents. Of course, New Regency has already optioned the movie rights. With a little caffeine you can finish and be in the know before Thursday. (Monday)
