Florida 3, at Chicago 2 (12 innings): Jeremy Hermida hit two home runs and scored the decisive run on Jorge Cantu’s 12th-inning double.
at Philadelphia 10, Atlanta 9: Pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs hit a three-run homer in a seven-run fifth inning to help spoil Mike Hampton’s return to the major leagues. He was making his first appearance since Aug. 19, 2005.
San Diego 9, at Pittsburgh 6: Adrian Gonzalez hit two of the Padres’ four home runs and drove in four runs.
Colorado 5, at Cincinnati 1: The Rockies had 15 hits in less than five innings against Homer Bailey (0-4). The Reds’ Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 607th homer.
St. Louis 10, at New York 8 (14 innings): Albert Pujols hit a two-run homer in the 14th inning for his fifth hit of the game and Skip Schumaker had a career-best six hits to help the Cardinals end a five-game skid.
Arizona 5, at San Francisco 3: Brandon Webb (14-4) struck out eight batters in seven innings to pass 1,000 in a matchup with Tim Lincecum, who had a career-high 13 strikeouts in seven innings.
at Milwaukee 6, Houston 4: Ryan Braun homered and drove in four runs, Bill Hall hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning and the Brewers grabbed a share of the National League Central lead.
at Dodgers 6, Washington 0: Derek Lowe gave up one hit over eight innings, and Matt Kemp and Nomar Garciaparra each hit a home run.
