The deputy director and chief curator at the Orange County Museum of Art, Elizabeth Armstrong -- who has organized a slew of critically acclaimed exhibitions, including “Birth of the Cool: California Art,” “Mary Heilman Retrospective” and three editions of “California Biennial” -- is moving to Minneapolis. Beginning in August, Armstrong will be assistant director for exhibitions and programs and curator of contemporary art at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

Educated in art history at UC Berkeley and Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., Armstrong also has held curatorial positions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
