Rally behind Taiwan
Re “A legacy of lost hopes in Taiwan,” March 10
Taiwan is an independent country with a vibrant democracy whose people will decide the island’s future in the coming March 22 presidential election.
As events unfold, Taiwan’s role is critical in handling the outcome of cross-straits issues. In its quest for greater recognition in the world community, it hopes to break down barriers to help develop Taiwan into a strong economic entity.
With new leadership, it aims to work in strengthening bilateral relations with the United States while easing tensions with China.
Certainly, Taiwan’s voice is significant in working toward greater peace and security in the Pacific region.
It is one big reason the global community needs to rally behind Taiwan.
