U.S. regrets death in Suez incident

The U.S. Navy expressed regret over the death of an Egyptian citizen, who was killed when a Navy-contracted ship fired warning shots at approaching motorboats in the Suez Canal.
Soon after the incident Monday, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and the Navy had said that, according to the vessel’s security team, there were no casualties. But Wednesday, an embassy statement said that it “appears that an Egyptian in the boat was killed.”
