St. Louis 11, at San Diego 3: Ryan Ludwick and Troy Glaus each drove in three runs. Padres pitcher Chris Young suffered a broken nose on a liner by Albert Pujols in the third inning and catcher Josh Bard sprained his left ankle on a play at the plate when Pujols slid into his leg.

Philadelphia 12, at Washington 2: Ryan Howard hit two home runs, and the Phillies collected 15 hits and a season high in runs.

Milwaukee 4, at Pittsburgh 1: Ben Sheets (5-1) limited the Pirates to one run despite giving up 11 hits in his second complete game.

at Houston 5, Chicago 3: Shawn Chacon pitched seven solid innings to end his major league record streak of nine consecutive no-decisions to start a season.

at Atlanta 11, New York 4: Jeff Francoeur homered and drove in four runs for the Braves, and rookie Jair Jurrjens (5-3) earned his second win over the Mets.

San Francisco 3, at Colorado 2 (10 innings): Omar Vizquel doubled to start a tying rally in the ninth inning, then drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th.

at Florida 3, Arizona 1: The Marlins handed pitcher Brandon Webb his first loss.

at Dodgers 5, Cincinnati 2: Hiroki Kuroda pitched eight solid innings to lead the Dodgers.
