Man gets 25 years to life for murder
Timothy Pinckney Jr. was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison Monday, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.
Pinckney was convicted last month of the first-degree murder of 29-year-old Ella Lawrence. She was killed in 1988, her beaten body found near the Manual Arts High School boy’s gym in South Los Angeles, authorities said. She was struck in the face repeatedly with a hatchet or claw hammer.
Pinckney became a suspect in Lawrence’s murder in 2006 after DNA evidence from an unrelated case linked him to her death.
