UC official on Obama team
Alan Hoffman, who has been the University of California’s senior vice president for external relations for just three months, has resigned to join the transition team for the new Obama administration. Hoffman previously served two stretches as chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden, now the vice president-elect.
“It’s an historic time and it’s an honor to be here already,” Hoffman said Wednesday in a telephone interview from Washington. He said he will work on the transition team and expects to receive a still-unspecified job in the administration.
UC President Mark G. Yudof, in an announcement Wednesday, said Hoffman’s move was a loss for the university but an opportunity for national service.
