LeGarrette Blount’s three-yard touchdown run with six seconds left gave Oregon a 35-28 victory over Stanford in a Pacific 10 Conference on Saturday at Eugene, Ore.

Down, 28-27, when Stanford scored with 2:18 left, Oregon efficiently drove the field -- a series highlighted by quarterback Jeremiah Masoli’s 25-yard carry -- and left no time for Stanford to answer after making the two-point conversion.

Masoli completed 11 of 21 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown for Oregon, which improved to 6-4 overall, 5-2 in the conference. Blount ran for 90 yards and two scores.

Stanford (5-5, 4-3) remains in need of one more victory to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2001. The Cardinal closes out with USC at home before visiting California.

Cardinal running back Toby Gerhart, who was injured for all but one game last season, is closing in on becoming Stanford’s first 1,000-yard rusher since Tommy Vardell in 1991.

But Gerhart injured his upper right hamstring early in the game and finished with eight carries for 21 yards, giving him 931 yards for the season.

Tavita Pritchard completed 15 of 22 passes for 138 yards and a score for Stanford.

The Ducks have won seven straight games against Stanford, and four in a row at Autzen Stadium.

Arizona 59, Washington State 28 -- Nic Grigsby ran for a career-high 189 yards and the Wildcats (6-3, 4-2) routed the Cougars (1-9, 0-7) at Pullman, Wash., to become eligible for its first bowl game in a decade.

Xavier Smith scored two touchdowns for Arizona, which piled up 531 yards -- including 317 on the ground -- against the nation’s worst defense.

Washington State actually played one of its better games in what has been a horrific year. But the Cougars still became the first Pac-10 team to give up 500 points in a season, with three games left to play. They have lost six straight and have given up at least 52 points in five of them.

The Cougars came in averaging only five points in conference games, and had not scored more than 17 points against a major college team. Their only win was 48-9 over Portland State.

Arizona State 39, Washington 19 -- Rudy Carpenter rallied the Sun Devils (3-6, 2-4) with a pair of second-half touchdowns to Michael Jones and they defeated the Huskies (0-9, 0-6) at Seattle.

Washington remained the only major college team in the country without a victory and saw its losing streak extended to a school-record 11 games. The previous worst was a 10-game skid in 1968-69.

Arizona State ended a school-record tying six-game skid and stay in contention for a postseason berth.

Carpenter completed seven straight passes during the two decisive scoring drives. He finished 22 of 31 for 218 yards -- including a batted pass he caught for a one-yard loss -- as the Sun Devils won for the first time since beating Stanford on Sept. 6.
